Precautions for use:

  • The Android phone must have Bluetooth and location information turned on, Allow location permissions

Works great!

It works great. I bought it for a few specific reasons, but the first reason was to get the Inspection Due reminder off of my Audi dash. Its a bit ridiculous that you cant adjust it in the vehicles maintenance settings, but this scan tool will do it easily. It is also more intuitive to use than other scan tools Ive used.

IT DOES WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN

Ancel 500 Scanner confirmed the throttle body needed cleaning on my 2010 VW Eos,
The Ancel scanner reset the throttle body with easy to understand instructions. Vehicle runs better that ever,
engine pick is unreal,
This Ancel 500 has already paid for it self.
The Ancel scanner has just pinged up a problem with the driver door locking system and has shown me a fault code with a Youtube video on how to fix.
So far, a garage visit for the Throttle body and door lock in London would have set me back £600 to £700.
I have the bluetooth model,OBD2 it stays plugged in to the car, when I put my iPhone in to the phone cradleI, i tap the Ancel app and it connects.

Great value for the money, and the manufacturer provides incredible support service.

I purchased this primarily to reset the oil service reminder on my Huracn, which requires a rather specific (and non-intuitive) set of steps to complete the process. At first the VD700 did not reset the reminder, so I emailed the manufacturer for support. Wow... they were amazingly responsive, sending me fast replies and providing new versions of the firmware for me to try while they figured out what was going wrong. I would send an email in the late afternoon or evening, and I usually had their reply when I woke up the next morning, so Im truly impressed by how quickly they responded with each new version to try. After a couple of updates I finally was able to reset the reminder. For a device at this price point, and for a specialty car that Im sure they have very few customers using it on, I sure didnt expect personalized service to diagnose a problem, but they really were there to support me.

The scanner itself seems to be solidly constructed, and the cable is long enough that you can comfortably use the device while its plugged into your OBD2 port. The User Manual would benefit from more examples that show all of the steps for the manual functions. Once you understand how the scanners menus work its pretty easy to use, but if youre going to have to manually set any parameters in your vehicle (versus using the built-in automatic routines that they provide for the most common procedures), more detailed examples in the User Manual would definitely give you more confidence diving into the manual operations. As an example, if you need to manually set the value of a Channel (in VAG mode), it lets you select a Channel number and then it asks you for the value to write to it. At this point its not clear that youre going to have a chance to see the existing value before overwriting it with the new value (it turns out you do, and you get a chance to back out before committing the change), so it made me nervous about pressing the Next button. If you dont need to go beyond their automatic routines, its very simple to use even without a better User Manual. So despite some rough edges with the User Manual, this seems to be an excellent value, and the manufacturers support was way better than I expected.
